CHARACTER UPDATE
Name: Drizz
Contact:
lightdrizzel
Character Name: Cassandra
Current canon point: End of season 1
New canon point: Season 3 Episode 10
Personality: The last year or so has not been kind to Cassandra. While she approached a more comfortable spot in her relationship with Rapunzel and Eugene, it wasn't to last. To continue staying close, and useful, to Rapunzel, Cass puts all of her dreams on hold once more to protect Rapunzel on her quest to the Dark Kingdom. While relaxed at first, this brings her to blows with the rest of Rapunzel's caravan- Rapunzel included -when she thinks that none of them are taking the trip as seriously as she is.
Things remained comfortable, after that. Cassandra even starts having fun with the group. But cracks begin to show around half a year. Cassandra begins to feel that she's been underappreciated and ignored for all the hard work she does, which comes to a head once Rapunzel latches onto newcomer Adira and Cassandra lets her anger at what she believes is a lack of respect and trust boil over. Rapunzel and Cassandra have an argument and, later on, Cass is wounded directly because of Rapunzel refusing to trust her and making her own choice. Their relationship, and Cassandra's right hand, were scarred.
Though it's not all bad; Cass still loved Rapunzel, and didn't want to be angry. Her difficulty with opening up and expressing herself emotionally leads to giving Raps more of the cold shoulder, but a mishap with a memory wand leads to her finally expressing her grievances. She would get over them, she was Rapunzel's friend, and that's what friends do.
But then they got to the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow.
Trapped in the magic house, drawn and cornered in a room by herself, Cass was approached by a spirit calling itself her friend. The spirit lead her to a cottage, to a memory that Cassandra had forgotten, and the mother she couldn't remember she had... Mother Gothel. Cass is devastated, especially as it's revealed before her eyes that her own mother abandoned her, at just 4 years old, for Rapunzel. Again, she is outshoned by Rapunzel, and from then on a plot of revenge sits in the back of her mind. Even as she helps Rapunzel achieve her quest, she struggles with the idea up til the last second... but finally does something for herself.
The Moonstone Rapunzel was searching almost a year for is swiped from her clutch by Cassandra, and she takes it's power, and she runs. Determined to use it to find her own destiny instead of being constantly denied, she isolates herself with the spirit, and her own negative thoughts. She grows more frustrated by the day. Her powers, born of rage, fizzle out despite how she tries. And although she does hate Rapunzel now, or says as much, the idea that she may have to kill her to get the power she seeks shakes her with fear.
At the end of it all, Cassandra desperately wants to be loved, but wont express that. So, she tries to act as useful as possible to earn that. and when that looks like it's not working then Cass starts to fall apart. Not helped by some abandonment issues and a potential fear that everyone that likes her might leave one day if she doesn't earn their affection.
